Expectations:
1. Respect - the classroom is a place to share ideas and opinions free of ridicule and criticism. What is said during discussions in class should remain in the classroom. We value everyone's views.
Please refrain from side conversations during class out of respect for me and your classmates. Time is limited, we have a lot to do in a short period of time.
PHONES OFF AND AWAY
2. Responsibility - for your work, your materials and your learning. Come and see me with any questions or concerns. It is your responsibility to turn in your assignments on time for full credit and for completing assigned readings.
3. Civility - polite, thoughtful, supported responses to questions or during discussions are expected. This means refraining from interrupting others and hostile arguments. History is all about perspective. Civility goes hand in hand with respect, so even though you may not agree with a peer or me, be civil in how you respond.
4. Prepared - for class by doing your assignments, taking notes and paying attention. Be able to support your arguments in discussions or in your writings.
5. Open minded - this class is dense with a lot of material to cover in a very short period of time (1400s - 2000s!!). History is not just a factual collection of dates, events and people. History is all about perspective. Be open to seeing things from multiple view points and multiple sources. We will be examining different sides of the same "story" through a variety of "eyes". Be open to different ways of exploring the history of our country. In keeping with the AP format, you will need to be familiar with different points of view seen through a variety of different types of sources.
